The Illinois
Valley Community Development Organization (IVCDO) is a
501(c)(3) non-profit working to improve economic and social conditions
in Oregon's rural southwest through programs designed to enhance the
standard of living, create jobs and encourage sustainable community
development. To support its activities the organization entered into an
agreement with the National Park Service to manage the Chateau at the
Oregon Caves National Monument. The management of two Forest Service
campgrounds followed. The IVCDO currently manages over $1,250,000 in
grants for projects in the Illinois Valley. It operates a Micro
Business Loan Program which makes small, low interest loans to local
entrepreneurs and workers. The IVCDO is also currently working in
conjunction with the Illinois Valley Fire District and the Bureau of
Land Management on projects to make neighborhoods safe from wildfires,
by reducing brush and small diameter trees on private property. To
attain our goals the IVCDO reaches out to other organizations for help
and guidance.
